October 21, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

£25

The Bible Reading Fellowship and Woman Alive magazine invite you to a special women’s conference, where we will be exploring “the peace that passes all understanding”.

Sessions

  • Let it go
  • Developing the fruit of peace in our lives
  • How to be a peacemaker – in our communities and families
  • Being a peacemaker – interceding for our nation

Each session will run in both the morning and afternoon so you will have the opportunity to attend two of them.

Let it go

Bridget Plass

‘Come unto me all who are laden and I will weigh you down with guilt, impossible demands and irrelevant worries , poor self image and false news ! ‘
For years I lugged around a backback stuffed with all these things , adding to them on a regular basis , convinced that only then was I worthy to be a follower of Jesus. What nonsense! The challenges of following are great but I have come to believe that what God wants is me – all of me( which is perhaps the greatest challenge) but essentially the me he put together in my mother’s womb. The relief, like Elsa in the film Frozen, to ‘let it go’. To gradually dump stuff that has weighed me down and worn me out. Join me in exploring what that might mean for you and for your future , happier, walk with Him.

Developing the fruit of peace in our lives

Liz Babbs

‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ – Philippians 4:6-7

How we can we learn to walk in God’s peace and not give in to fear and anxiety? Using illustrations from Scripture together with prayer and meditation techniques, we’ll uncover anything that might be holding us back in our relationship with God and exploring how we might draw so close to God that nothing can shake us.

How to be a peacemaker – in our communities and families

Rachel Turner

Family life can be chaotic, and we all long for a bit of peace. Peace is a fruit of the spirit, a blessing from the Lord, and a call for us to be a part of, and it absolutely is available for us in the daily flow of our families. This workshop will explore simple ways to allow God’s peace that passes all understanding to be a part of our family life, in the midst of the mess and quirky parts. Peace and mess can be side by side! This is not just for us as parents, but also for us as daughters and sisters. In all aspects of our family, we can experience peace. We will be looking at some practical tools to go back into our families and communities feeling equipped and able to live in peace without having to hide in the toilet, and affect our families and communities with the peace that can exist in the mess.

Being a peacemaker – interceding for our nation

Amy Boucher Pye

What does prayer have to do with being a peacemaker? We’ll explore this key question in our seminar, unpacking Scripture and looking at some stories of transformation and how peace has been achieved through the God’s gracious answers to the prayers of His people. Amy will share some prayer starters for peace, and we’ll also have time to pray together.
